Xiao Panda Preschool

Your child will reap LIFELONG benefits from bilingualism.

Harvard research concluded: starting to learn a new language before age 10 will give the learner the BEST CHANCE to achieve native-level proficiency.

Don’t let your little one miss this critical window of opportunity.

A Qualified Teacher:

Suzy Laoshi has a dual degree in both Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education. After living abroad in Taipei, Taiwan for about 15 months, she became fluent in Mandarin Chinese and after returning home, decided to work in Chinese schools.

She spent four years teaching in public school Chinese immersion classrooms before being inspired to open a bilingual Chinese preschool in her home, where she has been teaching for four years and still teaches today.

Continually studying and sharing Chinese with those around her is a true passion.  She is a mom to four of her own children (ages 8, 5, 3, and 1) and has been teaching them Chinese at home as well.

Virtual Chinese School became another passion project after an overwhelmingly positive response among families who found her on YouTube.  This course is an answer to all those families pleas for more a Chinese curriculum and lessons for young children.

FAQ

Most frequent questions and answers

The videos and curriculum materials were made with children ages 3-7 in mind.  That said, the comprehensible input used to learn Chinese has been used and enjoyed by many other ages as well. The curriculum could even be purchased by fellow Chinese teachers to use as an opportunity to gain strategies and lesson ideas for the classroom!

Access to the internet and a device such as a tablet, phone, TV or computer are needed to view the class videos. Additionally, a printer and paper are needed if you plan on participating in the interactive lessons (where Suzy laoshi and kids are writing together) or doing extension lessons at home.  Each packet has a list of supplies that would be needed if you did ALL the activities and extension lessons. Most of these supplies and materials can be found around your home – things such as paper, glue, scissors, drawing supplies, soap, vinegar, etc.

The learning goals of Virtual Chinese School focuses on speaking and listening skills.  However, we do study recognizing and writing one Chinese character per week.  There are also some home learning activities included that are intended to practice and review these characters.

Absolutely! In fact, your kids will ask to watch the videos again and each time they do, they’ll learn MORE CHINESE!
